We are committed to creating an atmosphere that builds a stable, grounded practice that always emphasizes substance over flash. The classes are physical, an integration of Hatha/flow styles, through breath and movement we discover, explore, breathe into and release the tensions which present physical/mentally/emotionally. Breath is emphasized strongly in all the classes. Breath is life and by choosing to become conscious of our breathing habits and be willing to adopt healthier ones, we are in effect choosing healthier bodies and minds as well
There is a great deal of emphasis on building strength and flexibility in the body and mind in a sequential and accessible way, and of building awareness so that the deeper practices of yoga such as pranayama (breath control), relaxation and meditation can be explored with fewer obstacles and greater satisfaction. You can expect to sweat, groan and sometimes curse, but by the same token you will also laugh, be delighted and amazed at what you can do when you believe you can |
