Level I Beginners class
This class is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. It gently builds
the foundations required for a grounded and therapeutic yoga practice. It
offers simple yet effective practices that serve to align breath with movement,
creating opening through joints and muscles, as well as preparing the mind
for practices such as pranayama(breath control), meditation and deep relaxation
. This class is recommended for those with existing conditions as well as
pregnant women.
The saturday afternoon class is a new time slot offered by Totol Yoga's new teacher Pete Richer. Pete is trained in Sivananda method whih is based on a series of 12 asanas (postures) with a particulur emphasis on pranayama (breathing techniques). While Pete formulates his classes to suit older beginners, any newcomer to yoga will find it a stimulating and comprehensive introduction to yoga practice.
Level I/II Experienced
beginner class
In this class the foundation is expanded upon with the introduction of
practices that offer more challenge to body and mind. The technique of
vinyasa (synchronising breath with movement to create internal heat) is
applied a little more consciously creating a more rigorous practice. Some
experience in yoga or a background in physical training is recommended.
Level II Intermediate
class
This class is for those established in their practice. This class follows
a classic vinyasa structure that builds a great deal of internal heat.
You can expect to sweat in this class and have your physical and mental
boundaries pushed. This class in unsuitable for pregnant women, high/low
blood pressure sufferers or those with issues in major joints.
Yoga for pregnancy
This class offers a gentle and effective means to empower expectant mothers to embrace all the changes and shifts during pregnancy as well as deep relaxation all work together to relax mom-to-be and lovingly connect to baby.
Meditation Class
In this class we will explore a number of meditation techniques. Whether you are an experienced meditator or are looking to learn the necessary skills this will provide the platform and motivation to make meditation a regular part of your life.
Private yoga classes also available by arrangement. Private lessons can often be useful to fine tune your practice and pose questions that a general class may not offer time for. Sessions are 1½ hours long. Private class at Total Yoga studio are R300.00 per session. Private classes at your home are R350.00 - R450.00 per session depending on travelling time and costs.
Mats are available for use at the studio. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for full range of movement, preferable natural fibres. Please bring a blanket with you to cover yourself during deep relaxation at the end of the practice

Total Yoga is please to announce that Pete Richer has recently completed a 200 hr Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training in the Sivananda method and is now teaching a weekly class on Saturday Afternoon at 4pm. Pete's passion and enthusiasm for yoga has made him a dedicated and enquiring student and he brings the same passion and sense of exploration into his classes.
